Who We Are
The Leavenworth Tree Project is the Masters Project of Jacob Alexander from Fort Hays State University.
Jacob is a biologist with a heart for educating people about the world around them. The project idea came from his own curiosity about the trees and forests at Fort Leavenworth. Coming from western Kansas, Jacob didn’t often get to experience the diversity of trees that Kansas has to offer growing up. While working on a series of biological surveys being conducted by FHSU on base he began to fall in love with Kansas forests. Naturally, he wanted to share this newfound love with others and inspire them to care about this unique and scarce resource. …and just like that the Fort Leavenworth Tree Project was born. So we hope you enjoy the materials assembled here and that you too will fall in love with these gentle giants and the forests they call home.
